‘do not call it off-space!’
Program announcement 10 year celebration, jubilee exhibition and book presentation 'do not call it off-space!’
It was lodged in a butcher’s shop, a business floor, the public office of a tax office, and is currently at home in a school. Across the city the white house has shown exhibitions in six stations. With “studio das weisse haus” an artist in residence program as well as studios for local artists reared and as one of the first institutions of Vienna the exchange of curators and cultural journalists into the program took. It has the Erste Bank More established VALUE art prize in collaboration with the ACF New York and the First Group and cooperation with national and international universities and cultural institutions.
In ten years of work for art, a lot of floors were scrubbed in the “white houses”, roofs polished, walls were torn, entire facades were dismantled artistically and positions of about 550 national and international artists were shown. The white house and the team around Alexandra Grausam has seen a lot, opened a lot, got to know the limits and developed into one of the most dynamic locations in the city - a platform for mostly young artists who have not yet got a gallery behind them ,
And now? The Decade Review is openly declared as a constructive future prospect and invites you to public brainstorming: “What do I want from the white house?” Is the question. Anyone who has something to say about this, should look ahead to the pre-celebration and the further thinking!
